Aircraft Rental


Chesapeake
Aviation offers aircraft for rental, for training, and for personal or business use.  This is a great way to take family or business trips, or just local excursions and build time in a comfortable, fun-to-fly aircraft. Most of our aircraft are IFR certified and equipped with IFR certified GPSs.  



We offer safe and well maintained aircraft. All Chesapeake Aviation aircraft under go FAA required maintenance and safety inspections every 100 hour of flight time ensuring our aircraft are all in excellent condition. 

We offer the following aircraft for your use:

  • Two C-172s
  • Flight Design CTsw
  • C-152
  • C-172 RG
  • 7ECA Citabria
  • Piper Seminole (PA44-180)
In order to rent an aircraft the pilot must meet the following:

Prerequisites:
 
LSA Flight Design CTsw

  • Hold a Sport Pilot, Private, Commercial, or ATP certificate with a rating for SEL
  • Complete an aircraft questionnaire and oral examination with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor covering the Flight Design CTSW systems and procedures
  • Successfully complete an aircraft checkout with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor, or if necessary obtain an endorsement for the CTSW

C-152 and C-172

  • Hold a Private, Commercial, or ATP certificate with a rating for SEL
  • Complete an aircraft questionnaire and oral examination with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor covering C-172 systems and procedures
  • Successfully complete an aircraft checkout with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor
  • Successfully complete an instrument checkout with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor (if used in IMC)
C-172 RG
  • Hold a Private, Commercial, or ATP certificate with a rating for SEL
  • Have an endorsement allowing operation of a complex aircraft (may be obtained during the aircraft checkout)
  • Have logged a minimum of 100 flight hours as PIC including 25 flight hours in a single engine with retractable landing gear with 5 hours in make and model, or in lieu of type and make and model, 10 hours of dual flight instruction will allow rental of our aircraft.
  • Complete an aircraft questionnaire and oral examination with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor covering C-172 RG systems and procedures
  • Successfully complete an aircraft checkout with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor
  • Successfully complete an instrument checkout with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor (if used in IMC)
 Citabria
  • Hold a Private, Commercial, or ATP certificate with a rating for SEL
  • Have an endorsement allowing operation of a tail wheel aircraft (may be obtained during the aircraft checkout)
  • Have logged a minimum of 100 flight hours as PIC including 25 flight hours in a single engine with conventional landing gear with 5 hours in make and model, or in lieu of type and make and model time, 10 hours of dual flight instruction in our aircraft will allow rental of our aircraft.
  • Complete an aircraft questionnaire and oral examination with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor covering aircraft systems and procedures
  • Successfully complete an aircraft checkout with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor
PA44-180
  • Hold a Private, Commercial, or ATP certificate with an instrument and MEL rating
  • Has logged at least 300 hours of flight time as PIC including 50 hours in multi-engine experience with 5 hours in a PA-44-180, in lieu of type time and make and model time, 25 hours of dual flight instruction in make and model with at least 15 take offs and landing will qualify for the 50 hours of multi-engine time. 
  • Complete an aircraft questionnaire and oral examination with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor covering PA-44-180 systems and procedures
  • Successfully complete an aircraft checkout with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor
  • Successfully complete an instrument checkout with a Chesapeake Aviation instructor (if used in IMC)
Note: completion of a course of instruction with Chesapeake Aviation meets the aircraft questionnaire, oral examination and checkout requirements.


Cost

  • Instructor fee for checkout - $36/hr
  • Flight hours C-152 - $89/hour
  • Flight hours C-172/Citabria - $112/hour
  • LSA Flight Design CTsw - $112/hour
  • Flight hours C-172 RG - $139/hour
  • Flight hours PA-44-180 - $235/hour 
  • Minimum hours for overnight trips(applies to days when the aircraft is taken before 2:00 PM or returned after 12:00 AM) - 3 hours

All Chesapeake Aviation aircraft under go FAA required maintenance and safety inspections every 100 hour of flight time.
